Buddy Time on a hot summers afternoon!

Buddy time on Friday was a very exciting time! It was so very hot that our buddy class decided it would be nice to participate in some water play to cool us off a bit.

We competed in a relay where the aim of the activity was to use a container to fill up a bucket but each child had to have their hand on the container while moving back and forth.

Following this we all lined up against the concrete wall and were sprayed by the fire hose. Good ole kiwi summer fun on a hot summers day!!!

Week 3

Wow we have had a very busy week last week. We particularly enjoyed Discovery Time where we learnt about gravity boats from some of our senior students, explored our dress ups, used our imagination and creativity to construct things out of card board boxes and used fabric to create special gifts for our friends and family.

Self Portraits

As part of our art programme we have been looking at size and positioning. We looked at our facial features and drew our self portrait. We learnt about the meaning of land scape and portrait when referring to the orientation of the paper. We learnt that portrait is taller than it is wide and landscape is wider than it is tall.

This week we have been writing descriptions about ourselves. We shared our writing with each other and practiced giving each other feedback and then went back and revised our writing.

Welcome to 2017!

Welcome to all of our new friends! Room 12 is made up of 23 year 2 children, with a good mix of both boys and girls. We have had a fantastic first 2 weeks and it has been lovely getting to know each other. We have enjoyed lots of things especially getting to use the school pool, participating in our fundamental skills programme and meet our buddy class.

We have been learning about Statistics in maths and have learnt to use tally sticks and create a pictograph and bar graph.  We have learnt about composting and have been the first class responsible of emptying and cleaning our new food scraps bins.
